payer of an annuity Explanation: Thank you, Yolanda, "annuity" does of course take two "n"s. A payer of an annuity (débirentier) is someone who has has undertaken to pay an annuity which he has purchased, in the context "viager" of the question : une rente viagère = a purchased annuity. There are alos terminable annuities (une rente à terme) or Government annuities (rente sur l'Etat). Lex d'anglais juridique (Kahn-Paycha, ELLIPSES) My Lexique de Termes Juridiques (DALLOZ), describes a "débirentier" as someon who is "débiteur des arrérages (arrears)d'une rente". And further, that a "rente viagère" is one which can be enjoyed during one's lifetime, the benfit of which cannot be passed on to your successors. There you are. A little biit more information. see body of explanation |
