insurance certificate ; certificate of insurance Explanation: Let's get one or two definitions clear first 1 - Attestation d'assurance = insurance certificate (confirming cover but not setting out full policy conditions) NB attestation d'assurance provisoire (insurance certificate = confirmation of cover = cover note often sent or handed over very rapidly before the full policy is sent out for signature) 2 - pour servir et valoir ce que de droit = to whom it may concern (the certificate may be used to confirm cover to any person or authority who may need to see it). In fact, although this is a common translation of this expression, I am not even that sure that we would put it into an insurance certificate, which obviously has an unknown addressee. If this is something which appears on the document by way of a caveat, then your sentence could read something like this : "To whom it may concern : [this] certificate of insurance does not amend the scope of the policy to which it refers". You probably need to play around with it a bit to make it fit the precsie context but I think this may help you unravel the meaning.
