French term
berlingot / pack
French to English
Marketing
household cleaning products
I found "pyramid-shaped carton" for berlingot and "multi-pack" for pack but I get the sense that berlingot can also be translated simply as "carton" and pack as "packaging, container, etc." The berlingot contains a multi-purpose household cleaner: for dishes, floors, surfaces, laundry. "Pack" is used when talking about the different possibilities for new packaging of the product: pack bleu, pack vert, pack sans pictogramme, for example. Thanks, Karen

The juice box, which today remains a popular food package of choice, is only one of many packaging options offered by Tetra Pak. The company is in no way limited to this type of packaging, instead it works to give its customers and consumers an ever-expanding spectrum of choices. For instance, Tetra Pak recently made its foray into the world of plastics. Plastic pouches and bottles are now a part of Tetra Pak's product mix.

d’affaires d’environ 6,8 milliards d’euros.

Comment: "Wow! Thanks for all your research, Debbie, and thanks to everyone else, too, for your helpful answers. I did try to submit several sentences of context in response to Jane's request, but it didn't appear and I'm not sure what I did wrong. I really appreciate all the help. Karen"

carton and pack
the ultimate in packaging definitions and history! for 2001-2002 see link below!
a carton does have a pyramid on top if you open it up all the way (tetrahedron) that's why that company is called Tetrapak!
berlingot : emballage commercial de forme tétrahédrique
pack : emballage qui réunit plusieurs bouteilles , flacons [like in six-pack] but just for bottles! not like a ice pack.

tetra classic? tetra-pack?
This seems to be a long story. The pyramid shaped pack was first known as \"tetra-pack\" because it was a tetrahedrom manufactured by Tetra Pak of Switzerland. But ever since then, the \"tetra pack\" has been applied to the \"tetra brik\" (brand name), and the first invention that the company came up with is now referred to as \"Tetra classic\". The multi-pack system is a small version of the tetra-brik.

In France anyway, the Berlingot normally is the soft, sealed tube bleach comes in to re-fill the bottle.
Also different dish washing products. The definition and common usage vary, but it's not a rigid container like a box.
The "Pack" reference is for variation of hte product: The colors indicate different qualities / fragrances of hte product contained within.

: Yes, this is the usual use over here -- a soft, sausage-shaped pack to pour into your exisitng bottle (washing-up liquid, fabric conditioner, bleach etc.); pack CAN be multi-pack, but also simply 'packaging' or just 'pack'!
