Designed to press laundry batches processed in any type of
batch washer, the SPR-50 PRESS optimizes subsequent drying
and ironing — making them less time-consuming and more efficient. The
PRESS forms a round “CAKE” of laundry with a flat base.
With high-capacity drainage facilities, water is extracted quickly and gently
from all types of linen. The SPR-50 single-stage press is
available in three different positioning options at the batch washer outlet:
in-line, turns to the right, or turns to the left.

The SPR-50 Extraction Press applies hydraulic pressure to
loads exiting any type batch washer. In doing so, it
efficiently presses linen into a round LAUNDRY CAKE.

Ours works because we have the space for the conveyors, a
CAKE BREAKER, and a rail system. After that good PM takes
care of the rest. … The operators are fed sheets that are separated
and easy to grab. Upstream of the Viking we use a CAKE
BREAKER after the press and then into a sling and onto the rail system.

CAKE BREAKERS are much better than dryers! A video showing a
cake breaker was out 6 or 7 months ago. If I find it I will
post it. Sheet cakes were lifted about 10 feet and dropped against two
stationary bars. These bars were at different elevations.
After the bottom bar the sheets fell into a clean delivery sling.

There's a (different sort of) cake breaker here:

Some call it a cake buster:

"Cake breaker" is also said of devices performing a similar
function in other fields where the French term "tourteau"
probably replaces "galette":
Cake Breaker (Crusher); A machine for breaking up animal
cake such as linseed or cotton cake - the residue from oil
manufacture.
