French term

anatomique

French to English Medical Medical: Instruments Orthopaedics
Hi all,

This is from a technical specification about primary femoral components. It talks about 'tiges droites' and 'tiges anatomiques' both with or without cement. I have translated the first as 'straight-stemmed component' and I sort of get the concept of 'tiges anatomiques' but I cannot find a set way of translating it into English - Google brings up 'anatomical/anatomic stems/components' BUT these are all translations of French/Italian documents/sites.

Can anyone help? Maybe it is 'anatomical/anatomic'?!

Thanks!

Claire

anatomic (stem)

Pretty standard terminology for femoral stems... they are either straight or anatomic (which means they have some curves).
