Of course, "I am in love" is usually "Je suis amoureux". I can't think that "Je suis dans l'amour" can mean anything else, although I have never come across it before.

It could be:

(a) someone just translating word-for-word into English, perhaps not knowing the corrrect French

(b)someone trying to be funny and "playing" with French

(c) someone trying to say "I'm into love", although I think this highly unlikely.

Explanation:
The proper sentence should read "Je suis en amour", which is used profusely in French (at least here, in Canada). So this is a direct, litteral, straightforward translation, once you know what the person meant...
