l’éclaté de leurs millefeuilles

ink jet printing
I'm reviewing an article on ink jet printing and I'm a bit stumped with the following phrase (bit between ** **).
"Nombreux sont les fournisseurs à utiliser dans leurs documentations et leur publicité **l’éclaté de leurs millefeuilles**."
This appears in a section talking about the structure of various ink jet papers. The translator has used "a starburst of color in their multi-colored sheets" which I don't think really hits the mark. All suggestions gratefully accepted.
Thanks in advance.

the fancy effect of their overlays
I think the idea is gimmickry and showiness: these other vendors should be belittled. 'Overlay' obviously doesn't pick up the patisserie, but would (to me) bring to mind gold leaf et al.

Comment: "Thank you Michael for an excellent response and to the others for their suggested variations. This had me tearing my hair out!! Anyway, I went with "stunning overlay effects" in the end."
