French term or phrase: évacuation extérieure
Hi folks. Context is instructions for a vacuum cleaner. Here's the sentence - "Pour les modèles sans sac / sans filtre, une évacuation extérieure est obligatoire." Does this mean you should take it outside to empty it, or does it simply mean that it must be emptied out into something? Help! Thanks.

manual cleaning
Explanation:
As the machine has no inner bag it shoud be cleaned/emptied manually.
Here, "exterior" refers to space out of the machine and "evacuation" is probably the action of taking the trash out of the machine.
Just a supposition!

Outside outlet

Explanation:
Je pense qu'il s'agit d'un systeme d'aspirateur central ou l'evacuation se fait a l'exterieur.

external evacuation

Explanation:
is necessary.
Simply means that you have to manually clean it out (help from the outside). Other models probably just require the push of a button to expel the "sac".

Models...must be emptied outside

Explanation:
It obviously means this as it can't be talking about the necessity to design vacuum cleaners in such and such a way in this context.

For the models without bag / filter, an external evacuation is obligatory

Explanation:
I recently translated vacum cleaners,
Not make sense. If there is not filter inside how they can external evacuation be done ?

I think it means when there is no filter bag that is if you can not take out dust from cleaner in a bag then you have to
use its external evacuation function, that is in old machines there was a function blowing this dust from its dust collection chamber out .
