gisement d'un groupe de dechets

English translation: classification

French term or phrase: gisement d'un groupe de dechets
I'm not sure what "il a ete determine le gisement d'un groupe de dechets" means in the following: "Au travers cette etude (etude economique de la valorisation matiere de certains dechets dangereux et non dangereux), il a ete determine le gisement d'un groupe de dechets."
Sorry about all these technical questions; I'm obviously not a technical translator, but these descriptions are part of a marketing document. Thanks, Karen

Explanation:
The French seems to be technically improper. What is meant here is the class or category of waste. "Gisement" refers to a geographical location.

"Classification" makes more sense to me too, since this is an economic study, but I'm baffled why they would use the word "gisement." Thanks for the clarification! Karen
