Part of a catamaran.

I know that 'chandelier' is usually 'stanchion', but I'm puzzled by the 'de coupé' bit.

I know that a stanchion can sometimes be a sort of pillar holding something up (just as in building), so I'm wondering if it's that meaning here...?
