Embrouillage (scrambling) : Transformation d'un signal numérique en un signal numérique aléatoire ou pseudo-aléatoire, de même signification et de même débit binaire en vue d'améliorer la transmission du signal sur un support donné. Opération inverse : le désembrouillage. Certains modems utisent un dispositif d'embrouillage.
