While a topstitched seam is a "couture apparente," I'd like to suggest an alternative translation because I have never seen a topstitched waistband on hose. (That doesn't mean it couldn't be done. It only means that I haven't seen it and practically, it would be a wasted step in the manufacturing process). On the other hand, there is a surgical support hose that has an opaque waist - and by definition, it would be apparent - visible, obvious, evident - so I offer it as a more reasonable possibility.
