French term
Zoom sur...
French to English

Tourism & Travel
Hi all,
I was wondering if anyone could help me with translating 'Zoom sur...' in the following context:
'Zoom sur cette ville pas comme les autres.'
It is from a travel article about Mumbai - it aims to get people to want to travel there. It it obvious what the text is getting at as it then goes on to extol the virtues of the Indian city but I can't find a really succinct way of putting it in English. I've thought about...
'Spotlight on this unique city...'
But I want something that sounds really idiomatic and natural in English. I think there is something out there that we would use in tourist texts that is just like this but I can't quite put my finger on it! Any help would be greatly appreciated! :)

[name of author] takes a closer look at
that's how it goes in a lot of Brit magazines
Note from asker:
Hi Graham - this is great - I really like that and it sounds really natural. Thanks! |
Hi all - just wondering about the possibility of ' X magazine gives a close-up on Mumbai...' What do people think? |
sorry I meant ...on this unique city... |

: Or "we take a closer look at". Actually this is the only answer that fits the additional context provided by the asker.

: This is a neat and natural-sounding solution in this kind of context. I like to use it too, except a magazine I work for refuses, the non-English-speaking editor judges it "inelegant"!

: I think this fits better in the context - most suggestions so far are better for headlines (understanable given the original question)

Snapshot/close-up of a unique city
We've had this before. Focus and spotlight have been suggested in the past. However, in keeping the cinematographic reference, you could use snapshot etc. Also, expanding the French with a few English adjectives always helps.
A unique snapshot of this wonderful city...

Note from asker:
Hi Marian - I really like this too! I wanted to keep with the camera reference as you say - I thought of 'snapshot' but not in this way - that's helpful - thanks! |

ZOOM IN ON /or/ FOCUS IN CLOSE UP ON
To me it looks like the idea here is a stylistic one in terms of writing. First we had a general explanation about Mumbai, and the next paragraph becomes more specific. The linkage is made by "zoom sur". Therefore, we are told to zoom in on and gain more focus.
EG:
"Now lets ZOOM IN ON /or/ FOCUS IN CLOSE UP ON this unusual(or unique) town..".
