En architecture en construction, un impétrant désigne toute conduite ou canalisation, tout câble enterré : électricité
gaz, eau, téléphone, télédistribution, etc..
Par extension, impétrant désigne également toute personne ou organisme public ou privé agréé, agréé au placement de câbles, de canalisations, pour la transmission d’énergie ou de signaux, ou pour tout autre équipement d’utilité publique (ex : société d’électricité, de téléphone, de gaz, de télédistribution).

En Belgique: Ce terme ne possède pas de définition dans le droit wallon ; il est cependant utilisé couramment dans divers textes réglementaires et le langage de l'administration wallonne.

Reference information:
Le projet de décret relatif à l’information, la coordination et l’organisation des chantiers sous, sur ou au-dessus des voiries ou des cours d’eau, déjà mieux connu sous le nom de décret impétrants, a été adopté en séance plénière le mercredi 29 avril 2009 par le Parlement wallon.

Pour rappel, ce décret oblige les impétrants de se faire connaître auprès d’une Commission spécialement créée à cet effet.
