Dans la fosse archéologique, côté cloître, vous voyez le niveau de la salle capitulaire gothique. Elle ouvrait sur le cloître par des baies; les bases de cinq d’entre elles sont aujourd’hui dégagées. Les carreaux de couleur du 13e siècle que vous voyez ont été réutilisés au 17e siècle sous l’emplacement des ***banquettes***. Elles étaient disposées le long des murs et recouvertes de planches de bois pour plus de confort, en deux rangées de hauteur différente; 180 moines environ pouvaient s’y asseoir. Les ***bancs*** de bois font écho à une partie de cette installation. A la 3e baie se trouve l’entrée de cette salle gothique.
