Hola. Estoy traduciendo un artículo sobre la situación del individuo en relación a la sociedad de consumo (las personas que más cosas poseen, son "mejores"), y se dice en este artículo que "la noción de estatus tiende a simplificarse y a coincidir con la de "standing". En francés este anglicismo se comprende perfectamente, pero no tengo claro que lo haga en español, por lo que no sé si traducirlo por "standing" tal cual, "nivel de vida"...

Yo lo dejaría por la simple razón de que el original parece jugar con la similitud de los dos términos, lo que funciona igualmente en español.

Mi opción. En español yo no dejaría "standing", pero sí "status". Creo que se puede escribir con e al principio: "estatus".
