Since they were Americans flying in a French squadron, it is entirely possible that someone wanted something on his plane in the local language but produced pidgin French. So maybe, wanting to say, "I, You, All of us" he came up with "Je Vous Tout" and no one dared correct him.

Similarly, maybe he wanted to say "I want (it) all/everything" and instead of coming out "Je veux tout" it came out "Je vous tous".

No luck Googling.

Now why didn't I think of "je vois tout"?

Notes to answerer

Asker: Had more luck Googling. The Lafayete Escadrille movie Flyboys had Je vous tous on the Squadron leaders plane. Googling Flyboys and je vous tout one suggestion was it should have been Je vois tout - I see all, which makes a bit more sense. As to the nonsense aspect of my request lighten up - I've never been a good typist.

neutral  writeaway: given the silly 'Espadrille' and the fact the question really makes no sense. should have been squashed as incomplete and/or nonsense
