French to English translations [PRO] Archaeology / WWII/ Metal/Rusted
French term or phrase:pas en alu
WWII dog tags found in Ardennes Forest/ rusted These are my father's dog tags U.S. Army Battle of the Bulge. This is part of a blog by the gentleman who found the dog tags.
Explanation: In "ally" the LY is pronounced as in "quietly", thus more like "Ali".
This takes me back forty years, when during school holidays I worked in an aluminium joinery. One of the "smoko" and lunchtime activities was darts playing. The MD came down to the shopfloor one day to play darts. When his dart hit the bullseye and bounced off, he said something like "Whose the dirty bugger who put a bit of ally in the bullseye?".
