I checked with the customer who told me that it was "imagée", to fit with the femininity of the overall form of the construction. After some discussion we decided that "central body" would be just fine. Thanks for your help.
Isn't this perhaps that sort of 'enclosure' you have on the roofs of buildings, usually set back from the edge, in such a way that all the 'untidy' technical stuff is hidden behind a sort of slatted metal screen? No idea, though, what this would be called in EN — but I guess it does look a bit like a boat sitting on the roof...!
