French term or phrase: Théâtre à l'italienne
The actual building itself. I'm not talking about the history of italian theatre but the specific way in which the theatre was constructed - balconies, stage etc.
i've researched various sites and Google etc but can't come up with anything and am beginning to think that the best thing to do is perhaps leave it in French between " ".

disagree  David Vaughn: No. This is wrong. Italian is a specific kind of proscenium theatre, with side balconies, etc

agree  writeaway: when will people start to look at glossaries first and then post a question? takes the same amount of time (or less....)

neutral  Christopher Crockett: Perhaps the "right" answer, but the term means nothing to me --indeed, even less than "Théâtre à l'italienne", which at least allows me to guess what might be meant.
