small payment Explanation: Karen, I may be wrong but I don't think there's any connection with postmarks here. The reference is rather to the meagre earnings (cachets) which an aspiring pop group might hope to earn for a "gig" (do we still say that?!). One rather out-of-touch Englishman (who left England for France over 30 years ago...) |

suite Explanation: courir le cachet=to chase after any sort of work/concert fees (adaptation) don't know if petits must be translated because the expression itself suggests that you're not a star! hope it helps |

tickets Explanation: Dear Karen, According to Cassell's French Dictionary, cashets could be translated like, "Seal, stamp, signet, signetring; ticket; tablet (of aspirin); fee (of an artist). Sinse this is about a musical group, and considering the context of the sentence, you could just translate the sentence like this: "For a very long time, the students no longer resist buying tickets, nor charms no matter how overrated for autoroute hotels." This would be standard English. The petit could be left out. Cassell's French Dictionary |
