French term or phrase: cote rebus
Si le côté rébus dut amuser le public, sans doute fut-il aussi séduit par les charmants bambins qui regardent le spectacle

English translation:riddle part (of show), riddle side (of show), riddle aspect, riddle element, riddle component
Explanation:
"Rébus" is really translated by "punning riddle", according to my dictionary, but I would use "riddle" by itself. You could also use the word "puzzle" or the word "enigma", such as in "the enigma element". I prefer the word riddle.

riddle part (of the show), or riddle aspect (of the show), or riddle element, or riddle side

Explanation:
In fact, to be exact, it should be "punning riddle", but riddle alone sounds better.

Oops, sorry, I didn't mean to repeat my answer as I just did. When I tried to look at the page, it showed "no answer", and I thought that the answer I sent earlier on had not gone through. My apologies...
