Jane is on the right track, but I feel "adapter" implies that some original connector is retained and an adapter fitted for connection to a connector of the other "gender". It seems to me that the whole point of the specification is to AVOID needing adapters to connect 8-pin plugs to 13-pin sockets, etc!!!

"Connectique" is just a fancy French "-ics" term for "connector system" or, even more simply, "connectors".

agree  Jane Lamb-Ruiz: the retenues for everyone's information means the ones we the buyers.decision makers have decided upon..it does not qualify the connectors/adapters or systems...I should have said: specficiations selected
