That's what the ABS needs to sense to be able to perform in such circumstances. Since drag torque may lock the wheels (try to lower two gears on ice, the wheels lock), the computer lowers the engine speed (likely by "engaging" a higher gear rather than actually disengaging gearbox from engine) to reduce this drag torque. In fact, to cancel the drag torque, it "increases" the positive torque. My understanding.
