Bus/Financial
French term or phrase: abonnes actifs a 40 jours; pages vues
I'm not sure what "a 40 jours" means in the following (this is written by an ISP reviewing the company's growth)
* 2.5 million d'abonnes en Europe
* dont plus de 700,000 abonnes actifs a 40 jours; plus de 578,000 in France.

Also, is "pages viewed" okay in the following or is there a more technical term:
*Environ 200 million de pages vues en Europe

Thanks in advance,
Karen

English translation:subscribers active in the last 40 days; pages viewed
Explanation:
Hi Karen,

1. Looks like it's " subscribers active in the last 40 days" Here's a quote from a site with a definition of "active":

"said active user accounts -- those having been used in the last 40..."
http://www.google.com/search?q=+"active subscribers"+"40 day...

Looks like *pages viewed* is the way to go. Google gives me 294 for "million pages viewed". Here're some examples:

".Zeus! WitchVox Cracks 5 Million Pages Viewed! Give..."

"...users and 800 million pages viewed. ..."
www.wsnwestave.com/lilith/training/summary.htm

Maybe you'd ge interested in using the same page I use for doing Web searches. It was put together by susan larsson (she *doesn't* capitalize, unless doing a formal text--says it's too hard on the little finger!):

The ATA was fine

Explanation:
Had a good meeting with the KudoZ guys. Looks like they have developed, and are pursuing, some good criteria for their site. Also got some new reference material, which I haven't had the chance to install on my puter yet, met some good people (including several translators who recognized my name from ProZ), and learned a bunch of new stuff. OTOH, the weather wasn't especially interesting: hot and thick with humidity. Not at all tempting to be outside, even to get in the pool.

Hope you find sue larsson's page useful

A reliable, detailed and recent dico for Internet lingo

Explanation:
Dictionnaire anglais/français des télécommunications & de l'internet,
Johanna de Luca, 3° Ed (2000), InterEditions

The FR/EN Version is due out any time now.

The term page views came up a couple of weeks ago. Apart from 'pages viewed' (displayed on your screen) it can also mean :
page views = pages downloaded (whole pages, text, graphics etc)
Cf.
page impressions = pages downloaded from a site (when referring to advertising banners)

Internet dictionnary

Explanation:
Nikki,

Thanks for letting us know about the new Internet and telecom dictionnary coming out. I have an Internet dictionnary but it's not comprehensive enough (Dictionnaire bilingue de la Microinformatique et de l'Internet - publisher is Marabout). Do you know how we can get the new one?

Also, thank you for the additional translations for "pages vues."
