usable against/valid against/evidence against Explanation: DR Dont on peut se prévaloir contre un tiers. Le Dictionnaire Universel Francophone -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 2002-07-15 04:57:46 (GMT) -------------------------------------------------- Black\'s Law Dictionary does not list \"opposable\" as an entry. The only context that I have seen \"opposable\" used in is \"opposable thumb\". |

opposable (Fr) = effective (in relation to third parties) / enforceable (against) Explanation: "...pour être opposable à ..." = "to be effective in relation to ... / to take effect in relation to ..." or perhaps "to be enforceable against ..." depending on the context. So I understand the French definition that has already been quoted by another answerer. -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 2002-07-15 05:51:05 (GMT) -------------------------------------------------- This expression was discussed here several times. The best glossary entry IMO is: http://www.proz.com/?sp=h&eid_c=28937&id=141712&keyword=oppo... |
