French to English translations [PRO] Bus/Financial
French term or phrase:negotiations
The context is an exchange of shares. A company is being described which has a capital of x number of "actions....qui sont admises aux negotiations du Premier Marche d'Euronext SBF SA, etc..". I suppose they are listed (admettre?) but what are the negotiations and come to think of it, what is this Premier Marche! Any help gratefully received!
Explanation: "négotiations" may well be "trading" in this context, or else "transactions" if you want to be a bit more literal.
Premier Marché should not be translated - see the web sites below for examples of use.
listed for trading in the Top Stock compartment of Euronext SBF SA
Explanation: "Premier Marche" is the first tier of the Paris Stock Exchange, reserved for the largest companies that also meet the exchange's most stringent requirements.
"Euronext" is the name of the joint venture formed this year by the Paris, Brussels and Amsterdam stck exchanges. Euronext first tier is named the "Top Stock" compartment.
"SBF" is Societe des Bourses Francaises
