French to English translations [PRO] Bus/Financial
French term or phrase:impôts différés actifs
context: profit and loss statement
i want to say 'deferred tax liabilities' but not without some backup...
phrase: L'examen des perspectives futures des sociétés françaises et étrangères fiscalement déficitaires a conduit à déprécier en totalité les impôts différés actifs constatés au 30 juin 2000 au titre de ces déficits, soit un montant de 69 millions d'euro.
thanks in advance and happy boxer's day/feast of st. stephen.
Explanation: << i want to say 'deferred tax liabilities' but not without some backup... >>
No, you don't want to say 'liabilities', because that would be deferred tax CREDITS.
'Deferred tax debit(s)' is fine, but there's nothing wrong with 'deferred tax assets' either. In your context --assets being written down because there may be no earnings to set against the loss carryforwards -- I'd go with the straightforward translation.
