yes, it's the same as 'veille', although not as widely used these days (with the advent of the internet, the term 'veille technologique' has become increasingly common).

That's what I thought, but I'm much more used to "veille" so I wasn't 100% sure. The Web site you found is perfect! I did extensive research on the Web myself but could only find one with vigie defined or translated - and it was translated as "surveillance," which sounds too much like police work. Thanks so much. Karen

With perhaps just one comment, that as "intelligence" means "information", perhaps a synonym might be needed as

"Where business intelligence exists, it may be a source of information".

Information being a source of information? Tricky...
