French to English translations [PRO] Bus/Financial - Business/Commerce (general) / stock management
French term or phrase:provision
"Stabiliser les niveaux de stock et baisser la provision"
"Stock provision" occurs as frequent google hits but mostly in the context of libraries.
I'd really appreciate if someone could actually explain to me what this means (I thought that stocks *were* provisions of a kind...)
For the reasons I gave in my note above, I think this is focusing on physical stock. If there is any feedback to the contrary I'll let you know. Many thanks to both of you, this was invaluable help. 4 KudoZ points were awarded for this answer
I should have said that all of this comes under the heading "Reduce cash flow". The following paragraph is "Optimiser le réseau logistique" by reducing the number of hubs and delivering finished goods directly to the point of sale. That they are "anticipating" product life cycles, which presumably means not building up stocks of products that will go out of fashion next year, and improving the quality of stock suggests to me that this is about physical levels of stock but DF's explanation is also valid. I have no other context to go on.
