neutral  polyglot45: la batellerie = bargees, so inland waterway by definition

  -> Thanks, PG. La batellerie is not automatically IW bargees - it can be e.g. inland water transport (IATE) among others but I agree 'inland' is most likely. In the past there were plenty of coastal barges for eg coal from Newcastle to London.
