French to English translations [PRO] Bus/Financial - Business/Commerce (general)
French term or phrase:L'indivision Forcée des Propriétaires
Bylaws of an association - U.S. English
I am having difficulty translating L'indivision Forcée des Propriétaires in the extract below. I saw another Kudoz answer which used "compulsory undivided ownership" http://www.proz.com/kudoz/french_to_english/law_general/3766... but in my case I have to refer to the owners themselves and I can't put compulsory before "undivided owners"
ARTICLE 4 - COMMISSION DE CONTROLE
La commission comprend des représentants des personnels et des représentants des employeurs, désignés dans
les conditions ci-après :
• *L'indivision Forcée des Propriétaires* des installations du restaurant, désigne 1 représentant pour participer aux
réunions de la commission.
• Le collège A désigne au maximum 4 représentants des personnels et 4 représentants des employeurs.
• Le collège B désigne au maximum 2 représentants des personnels 2 représentants des employeurs.
but perhaps my question wasn't clear. I agree that "obligatory co-ownership" or "compulsory joint ownership" are good stand-alone translations of this term, however what was bothering me was that my original text goes on to say "désigne 1 représentant" which means that I couldn't use the word "ownership", instead I had to say "owners [...] appoint ...". I felt that it sounded strange to say "obligatory co-owners [...] appoint..." or "compulsory joint owners [...] appoint.." Thanks anyway to all.
