this is on a birth certificate from Ivory Coast. You have the father's name:
son of xxxxx vis-à-vis, police officer.......
What does that vis-à-vis refer to?? How do I translate that?
Duncan, I think you are right concerning the filiation. The complete sentence is:
"Le xxx (date), xxx est né, de xxxx vis a vis, officier de police retraité et de xxxx....." I believe I have given the context of the words.
I might just leave it as is then. I appreciate the help.
