du backbone (BST)

I wrote the client saying that without more detail, I could not in good conscience provide a proper translation. I don't know if the BST is an abbreviation for backbone system, and I could not find anything that satisfied me as to what a backbone system is. I had translated it to that anyway, but included an explanatory note and query. If they write back with an explanation, I may reopen the question, or at least let you know what it was referring to...

I agree that it seems likely that it's the client's own abbreviation for backbone system. Binary search tree does not fit into this context - besides it would be unlikely that they would go into detail about how the system works and are much more likely to state what functionality it provides.

A mon avis, BST ne fait référence à rien de précis si ce n'est Backbone SysTem. Le client avait simplement besoin d'une abréviation en trois lettres et il l'a inventée (comme TRS, Training SystTem, TST, Test SysTem, ou PST, Paging SysTem). Juste une opinion.

That is not my question. My question is what BST stands for, and how it is related to backbone. I said above that BST could refer to binary search trees or to a base station connected to a backbone.
