that's just it, mactrad, I understand petite peche also to be "inshore" fishing, but sole is always caught inshore! So it's rather silly to be putting this on the menu, but as I said it's to conjure up a quaint image for the Parisians. Like how they put dirt on the carrots and potatoes in the markets so they look like they were just uprooted, thrown in the back of a market-garden truck and taken to the big city :-) I also like the sound of fresh-caught, but again that seems as redundant as petite peche. Would they serve fish that wasn't fresh?? Maybe I am just thinking about this too much... Kate, this is becoming a pattern with us, hee hee. I have "bar de ligne" just above (line-caught sea bass) so I need to opt for something different here. |
