French to English translations [PRO] Bus/Financial - Economics / Emerging Countries
French term or phrase:évaluation des risques pays
This appears in a description of someone , who is quoted in an article concerning trade with emerging countries: M. Untel, spécialiste de l'évaluation des risques pays, disait.....
Is this a typo, are there missing words, or have I missed something.? Many thanks for any help.
I'm not too sure about this but I think that in grammatical terms this is an ellipsis for 'risques des pays' but if that was included that would mean repeating 'des' and would make the expression rather heavy. Here it means any country or countries in general. If you google it with 'des' or 'du' added you see that it is generally qualified e.g. risques des pays en développement. Maybe if you did include a second 'des' everyone would be left wondering which countries you were talking about whereas leaving it out makes it clear that it is any country or all countries. At any rate, it seems to be the expression that it generally used.
