Les accords passés entre les établissements universitaires et L'Institut Culturel Franco Américain, vous permettront d'obtenir un maximum de validations d'acquis pour le travail universitaire effectué en Belgique.
Cela signifie que, dans la majorité des cas, vous partirez déjà avec un certain nombre de "crédit hours".
Le système universitaire américain étant basé sur la connaissance autant que sur les diplômes obtenus: vous pourrez, dans certains cas obtenir des "crédit hours" en validation d'acquis, avec le diplôme d'humanités ou des études universitaires même non sanctionnées par un diplôme.
Attention: les "crédit hours" obtenus par validation d'acquis des études universitaires effectuées en Belgique sont propres à chaque université.
L'étudiant belge qui déciderait de ne passer qu'une seule année aux USA, pourra choisir ses cours librement et faire à la fois de la photo, de l'informatique, de la littérature et de la musique, par exemple, sans avoir à se préoccuper du "core curriculum" (matières imposées à tous les étudiants voulant poursuivre des études aux USA).
Attention: les validations d'acquis demandés au retour en Belgique après une année passée dans un collège américain sont très difficiles à obtenir, exception faite dans le cas de diplômes reconnus.
Dans chaque université, un conseiller est à la disposition de tous les étudiants pour les aider, tant dans le choix des matières qu'ils se proposent d'étudier, que pour aplanir les difficultés qu'ils pourraient rencontrer au cours de l'année. Ces conseillers sont particulièrement utiles pour les étudiants étrangers.
