French term or phrase: batteries antigel, de préchauffage, de prérefroidissement
This is in the context of air conditioning. Do you think you can translate as "batteries"? Antifreeze, pre-heating, pre-cooling....

Les batteries antigel, de préchauffage, de prérefroidissement sont reliées chacune à un générateur (électricité, chaleur, froid)

frost-protected batteries

This is a bit ambiguous, but the obvious (?) meaning is that each frost protected battery (antigels?) for preheating and precooling is connected to a generator. But the generators could be generators of electricity, heat, and coolth.... And maybe the "batteries" are not electrical. Context should help.

disagree  Tony M: No, I don't think so here, Chris: I believe these are refrigerant (etc.) batteries, in the literal sense of 'a bank of pipes (etc.)' — I don't think we're talking about electrical accumulators

-> 'twas my first thought, but then, well, I wasn't so sure. Context would help, but backup batteries in an A/C unit would be unusual

disagree  Charles Hawtrey: I think Tony's right here, Chris. Something like 'sets' or 'units' or even 'equipment' is likely to do the job here.

-> funnily enough, I actually put 'units' first time round. Ho hum. Who's for the K-points, then?

agree  sumire: I think these batteries are used for the heat exchanger (evaporator & condenser} with antifreeze thermostat of air conditioning. At low temperature, the compressor is stopped and the electric fan will start working automatically.
