French term or phrase: expressions croisées
From a text about Nancy:

Etablissement culturel de référence, l'Ensemble Poirel réunit une charmante salle de spectacles et de vastes galeries d'exposition. Avec au programme : musiques variées, théâtre, humour, **expressions croisées**, spectacles jeune public et expositions.

I'm assuming this is some sort of performance art, but what is it exactly?

Contrasting expressions/points of view

Explanation:
I think "croisées" here suggests that participants with differing views on a subject come together to present those views. Participants can be artists, writers, scholars, or philosophers etc and the media involved, painting, photography, writing, or discussion etc will depend on who is participating.

or even workshops and panels

If you search for instances of "expressions croisées" on the web, you will see that they refer to this type of thing: a talk or presentation, with opportunities for the audience to take part or ask questions. I don't think we have a single neat term that covers this concept, and I think you will have to be more explanatory.

Any direct translations look decidedly odd in English and don't really mean anything.
