As you state quite correctly, there are several ways to translate "à la lumière de." In my opinion, the choice should be governed by the register of the original French – especially for a class exercise. A little on the high side, it seems to me, with "de plus" at the beginning of the sentence and "constats" at the end. Although "based on" is semantically possible, IMO it lowers the register a bit, compared to "in light of," which would be my choice here. (And, by the way, why ignore "de plus" in your translation? It sets, or helps to set, the register of the sentence.) |
