French term or phrase: Un toquis
This is for a subtitling project, so I don't know exactly how it's written, but it sounds like "un toquis" (silent s, this is how I pictured that it would be written when I heard the word.)

Two people are talking about a fountain that they have to get ready for the next day, they are working on getting a garden just right. One of the men says that he will give the labourers "un toquis".

Thank you!

un toque

Explanation:
It's the tall chef's hat

Mind you, it will of course depend on the exact context. For some reason I inserted "chocolate" before that fountain (I guess I need a sugar boost :)) so having the labourer wear a chef's hat seemed relevant. Maybe it is; maybe it isn't.

Asker: Thanks - I don't think that it is toque. Because they say it many times, and each time they pronounce the "i". They say it very clearly so it is definetly pronounced with an i at the end. Thank you though!

neutral  writeaway: aren't you getting this confused with a (Gault-Millau) toque? /why would a chef's hat be given to people working in a garden in any case?

-> The Asker had heard it, not seen it, writeaway, so I thought it might have been toque // You'll need to see my note for that :).

neutral  Victoria Britten: Time for some chocolate, methinks! / No offence intended! :-)
