French term or phrase:Affiche la couleur
This is part of a description of a building. But I am interested to know all possible meanings of this phrase.
It's quite likely the term has a lot to do with who the sponsor is. The choice of sponsor could signify an allegiance, possibly political or ideological - hence revealing true colours as polyglot says. Help us to help you and give us more context!
in French when you say that someone/thing "affiche la couleur" means "they" are showing their true colours, displaying their true self... Given the brief phrase to work on, it looks as though a play on words may be involved, so a reply needs more CONTEXT
I would have to say, what colour? Does the salle de spectacle provide colour within the building, or does it showcase some particular new colour of paint [perhaps a little facetious, the last one, but you know what I mean, I hope.]?
