French to English translations [PRO] Marketing - Internet, e-Commerce / Marketplaces (odd-jobs, tradespeople etc.)
French term or phrase:places de marché de mise en relation
I'm looking for a succint translation of "places de marché de mise en relation" which, in this particular case, refers to a marketplace (online platform) that connects/matches households with plumbers, electricians, dog-sitters, carers etc. (like TaskRabbit).
I prefer the expression 'people to people marketplaces'. What I mean is that we are all human beings having needs. So we can interact with one another directly and informally to convey to one another our needs and find solutions to our needs collectively.
I used to think that was a non-Western view of the world (the souks in North Africa and Asia Minor for example). But I changed my mind since settling in The US. Have you ever been to a garage sale? to a class reunion? to a Church fair? to a Christmas fair? In each case, people come across as human beings, not as sellers or buyers or professionals. It's all about talking and exchanging information and tips that will be formalized later.
"Ces sociétés ont un modèle similaire aux places de marché de mise en relation avec une différence principale : elles basent leur fonctionnement autour des devis des professionnels fréquentant leur plate-forme"
"[Company] a décidé de sélectionner une plate-forme de mise en relation pouvant répondre à ses problèmes et atteindre les objectifs fixés parmi trois acteurs du marché... "
Sorry Phil, I should know better. The terms crops up a few times in the document but here are a couple of instances.
I also agree with Didier, however, the document seems to distinguish between "Places de marché de devis" and "Places de marché de mise en relation" so I wondered if there was any way to distinguish the two in English.
A market is made of sellers and buyers, a marketplace lets them connect to each other, "de mise en relation" is plain pleonasm IMO, what to you assume "a marketplace for households and plumbers" could do?
Should you write "une agence matrimoniale de mise en relation" or "une agence immobilière de mise en relation"? Both nevertheless connect people but it is so much their obvious purpose that it does not need overstating.
