Average issue readership defined as meeting the following criteria:
1. Read, looked through or referred to the latest issue of magazine in question in the publication period prior to questionnaire. i.e. for C&D in seven days prior to completing questionnaire


Average issue readership (AIR)
The number of people who claim to have read or looked at a publication in the last issue publication period, e.g. yesterday for daily press or in the last week for weekly press.

That's a useful link. The definition of reader is interesting: someone who spends 2 minutes leafing through a magazine counts as a reader (so that includes everyone in the dentist's waiting-room!). :-)
