French to English translations [PRO] Law/Patents - Law (general)
French term or phrase:retirer des droits de ... contre
X s'engage dans les memes termes a ne pas retirer de droits de l'utilisation et de l'enregistrement de la marque Y contre la marque Z, plus generalement a ne pas s'opposer a l'utilisation et a l'enregistrement de la marque Z et/ou a ne pas les contester, ...
I am suggesting that this should be translated 'According to the same terms, X undertakes not to derive rights from the use and registration of the trademark Y against trademark Z, more generally not to oppose the use and registration of the trademark Z and/or not to contest them, ...'
The whole gist would appear to be about not undermining trademark Z. I am not sure that this is reflected in the suggested translation. 'Tirer des droits' would be to 'derive rights'. Is there any chance that 'retirer des droits' would mean the same?
