Mmm, not sure about this. I can't find the collocution anywhere, but the Council of Europe legal dictionary gives the following for "théorie de l'apparence": rule that in certain circumstances third parties dealing in good faith with an apparent owner or agent are protected; theory protecting the position of a person acting in good faith in reliance on an apparently legal state of affairs.
