Law/Patents
French term or phrase: mémoire
French legal document : in a list of the amounts being claimed, some figures are provided while others are quoted as "mémoire", eg "frais médicaux : mémoire". Does this mean they have not yet been established?? Thanks for any help.

memorandum
Explanation:
This means that the expenses have been established and can be found elsewhere. Termium lists a number of possible translations: memorandum, trial brief, brief, or statement of case. This is defined as "an abridgement or concise statement of a client's case made out for the instruction of counsel in a trial at law." I think this fits your context.

Thanks, this seems to fit the bill best. It's not the grounds for the appeal, because we're in the middle of the list of figures here; and it could have been the invoices but apparently no such documents are attached. Thanks to you and all the others too.

report or summary

Explanation:
A very arbitrary term: a "memoire" is usually an abbreviated statement of something quite complex, and to the extent that it is abbreviated, it may be called a summary, although its intention is to inform.
