Who is your audience? 22:29 Oct 19, 2011
As Jim and cchat have stated, I believe that either terms "identitarianism" or "identity politics" would suffice.
I want to add my own viewpoint to the discussion. First, by saying that I live in the US. I don't know about English speakers in the UK, but I feel like using "identity politics" could be more accessible to your audience, as I have never heard the term "identitarianism" but am familiar with the concept of "identity politics".
Also, the term "identity politics" doesn't reference a specific movement, but it seems that "identitarianism" may encompass actual organizations as the article posted by Jim would have me believe. To me, the source text doesn't implicitly point to any particular identitarian organization or movement, so I would still think that "identity politics" is a viable option.
Does anyone from the UK favor the term identitarianism to identity politics? Do they mean different things to you or, like me, does the term identitarianism act as almost a synonym of identity politics? |
