French term or phrase: dîner de presse
A type of informal press conference where a company invites journalists so that they will write an article about a particular topic. It does not necessary include a meal, but it could take place in a restaurant.
Annie Garneau
press reception
Explanation:
or, for less informal occasions, "press party"; however, "press reception" is the more general term for gatherings at which food and liquid refreshments are served, as opposed to (formal) press conferences, which are all business (at least, in the sense that the snacks and drinks are located in a separate room).

If the company has any experience at all with the press, it will be sure to provide goodies at its media receptions. Often, given the pace of events such as COMDEX, these events offer the hard-working members of the Fourth Estate their only chance at a meal. Among reporters, the term "grazing" is standard, with reference to the physical sustenance offered by the companies...!

press dinner

Explanation:
If it is a "dîner", then it will almost invariably include a meal, dinner, ie the evening meal. It may well just be a light dinner, a buffet, of course.
