In any case, it doesn't refer to any specific architectural feature, but, rather, to the whole ambiance of an open, lighted space. Essentially, it means that visual lines are unblocked and full of light (from the vast source of light). I think I'd sidestep this one and use "opon space(s)" to describe the place.
